FERRARA

CUSTOM BUILT, HEAVY DUTY, MAXIMUM RESPONSE

Ferrara Fire Apparatus is a premiere manufacturer of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles offering a full line of pumpers, aerials, industrial, wildland, and rescue apparatus. Working hands-on with both municipal and industrial fire departments, the Ferrara team thrives on diagnosing departments current apparatus limitations and response needs to custom design the perfect fire apparatus solution that will stand the test of time.

Taking crew safety and apparatus durability very seriously, Ferrara uses a fine-tuned construction process and heavy duty materials to build the strongest fire trucks in the industry. We offer a custom chassis line that has exceeded all safety and strength test making them the safest available. Combined with our extruded aluminum fire bodies, Ferrara’s trucks are truly strong as a tank.

With over 6,000 fire trucks being delivered across the world, we are excited for the opportunity to meet new fire departments and develop new relationships with the men and women who valiantly serve our communities. We take great pride in providing exceptional fire trucks that make a difference in people’s lives daily.

HEAVY-DUTY

Ferrara’s custom cabs and bodies are built from an extruded aluminum frame and 3/16” thick marine grade aluminum plate; the strongest and most durable in the industry and considered by many to be STRONG AS A TANK!

In an independent third party study, Ferrara cabs and bodies proved to be stronger than the competition inoverall tensile/load limit, endurance limit and RBM (Resisting Bending Moments). All of our cab and body extrusions are certified 6061 T6 structural aluminum.

Saying you have the strongest trucks in the industry is easy, but we had to prove it to ourselves to be absolutely sure. We put our custom chassis, cab and body to the ultimate test via the Economic Commission for Europe Regulation 29 (ECE R29). We tested our cab a full six years before this test became a requirement of NFPA 1901. Not only did we pass these tests, but we exceeded all requirements.

The standards call for the roof to be able to withstand a force of 22,000 pounds. Ferrara exceeded that requirement by three times over, placing nearly 66,000 pounds on the roof with no damage to the crew area. The cab was also subjected to a simulated impact of a head-on collision where 3,700 lbs were swung on a pendulum into the front of the cab to simulate an impact velocity of 18 mph. There was no passenger compartment intrusion nor were there any failed structural components in the cab.

Lastly, we placed all 66,000 pounds on top of the extruded aluminum body with no resulting structural deformity. This is not a required part of the part of the NFPA 1901 standard; however, it did demonstrate the strength of the body and an additional measure of protection for apparatus occupants.
